Deb has gone through some major life changes in 20l4. She lost her precious pug, Stanley on 11/14 and then 2 weeks later lost her Dad. November is "Adopt a Senior Pet" month. We are grateful to folks like Debbie who truly understand the value of a mature pug and are willing to provide them a loving home in their "Golden" years.

Congratulations Beanie and the Berry Family on a perfect match!

9/13/14 Duke, pug 14-70, has been adopted by the Antone Family of Swanton, VT.

The Antone's have been looking for a pug that would be a good fit with their Bull Mastiff, Tucker. History shows that Giant Breed Dogs and Pugs seem to do very well together. It must be, because Pugs are Huge Dogs in small bodies! Tucker and Duke hit it off well at first sight!

Congratulations to Duke, Tucker, and the Antone Family on a match made in heaven!!

9/5/14 Jenny, pug 14-59, was adopted today by Sharon Demers & Pete Miller of Essex Jct, VT.

8/30/14 Charlie, pug 14-58, found his forever home today with Margery Zimmerman of Sanford, ME.

Charlie is a gorgeous boy (and he knows it!) and will be living just 10 minutes from the ocean - I think this little guy will be walking barefoot on the beach!! The Zimmermanns lost a pug recently to cancer and their little pug Pepper really needed a companion. It was love at first sight when Charlie became available.

Congratulations Margery and Charlie - hope to see you at the 12th Pug Social in Killington.

8-23-14 Daisy Duke, pug 14-38, has been adopted to her forever home, by the George Anderson Family of Bow, NH.

Daisy Duke has had a somewhat difficult time getting adopted, especially for a 2 year old pug. GMPR says, that the adoptions always ultimately end up the way they are meant to be. Daisy Duke is one of the cutest pugs you will ever see, and such a love pug! Daisy has one personality trait that sets her apart from most pugs - She does not like other pugs or dogs! She is fine out in public, in fact social. But living with another dog makes her see red! After a couple of trial and errors, Daisy has found her perfect home with the Anderson's. We think this picture pretty much says it all!!

Thank You Anderson Family for understanding Daisy Duke's personality quirks and giving her such a great home. We know she will be very happy with having all the one on one attention she so desires!

8-20-14 Bentley, pug 14-33, has been adopted by the Fogg Family of White River Jct., VT.

Bentley is truly a Rags to Riches Story! In April we were notified about a pug in Lamoille Valley Vet Services that had been hit by a car. One of his eyes was popped out and he had a severely fractured leg. He was covered in fleas and ticks and was a pretty miserable, skinny guy. Bentley's owner came forward and surrendered him to GMPR.

All in all, Bentley's vet bills came to over $4000, but he is 100% and a happy healthy dog! GMPR is extremely grateful to all the folks that donated money to help us take immediate care of Bentley and cover the costs of his surgeries and rehabilitation!

Without you, we couldn't do what we do, which is save pugs and provide them with Forever Loving Homes!

8/29/14 Polo, pug 14-41, found her forever home today with Julie and her son Bruce of Calais, Vt.

Bruce and his mom have wanted a pug to love for some time and are now in a place that is ideal for a dog. With someone at home most of the time, this little pug will get LOTS of love and cuddles.

Congratulations Julie & Bruce. Hope you can make it to our 12th Annual Pug Social in Killington.

8/22/14

Today was a great day for 2 of our very special senior pugs.

Sissy #83-13 - originally came from a puppy mill in Arkansas where she was very neglected. This resulted in her losing an eye and the sight in the other. Sissy has been in foster care for nearly a year waiting for the perfect home. This sweet very quiet little girl found that home today with Lois Magenau and Marcus Johnson of Andover, NH.

Odessa #27 -14 also found her forever home today with Lois Magenau and Marcus Johnson. Odessa is a spirited little 9 year old that came to GMPR 4 months ago. The long wait for the perfect home ended today as she joins Sissy in their new life together.

Immediately after their adoption, Sissy & Odessa were off to Petco to choose their dog beds!! I think these two little gals are going to be very spoiled - and they deserve every bit of it!!!

Congratulations Lois & Marcus and we hope to see you at the Social on September 13th.

08/17/2014

8-14-14 Henry has been adopted by Mark and Lauren Sheehan from Albany, NY.

It took some time because Henry is a seizure pug and requires meds to keep the seizures under control. This is the best home for Henry that he could ever find.

We are so happy for Henry and the Sheehans!

Henry is now the King of his home and family and couldn't be happier!

8-14-14 Tahoe who is now named Taco has been adopted by his Foster Mom, Dawn Debois.

Tahoe is a puggle - Pug/Beagle mix who came to GMPR with some behavioral issues. Tahoe guards his toys and food and can get snippy when he thinks someone may take them away. After several months in foster care, he has come a long long way and his foster mom fell in love with his otherwise terrific personality.

Dawn says when folks ask her what a Puggle is, she says it is a Pug with a Giggle, because that is exactly what Taco is!

8-14-14 is Taco's birthday and what better gift than to be adopted and find your forever home!!

8-12-14 Rudy/Peanut has been adopted by Gayle Lyman Hatzell of South Royalton, VT.

Gayle recently lost her precious pug, Pugaletta and was trying to decide if she should wait a bit before adopting another pug or get one right away. She decided that things were too quiet and her other pug, Pugaluna really needed a companion as much as she herself did. Little Rudy/Peanut stole her heart at first sight!

We couldn't be happier for Gayle and Rudy! We do hope to see them at the Pug Social on 9/13/14 in Killington, VT.

8-8-14 Patty has been adopted by Gloria Lamorey of Graniteville, VT.

Gloria has adopted 4 GMPR Pugs in past years and fostered many more. Patty is another "Foster Failure" for Gloria and we couldn't be happier!

Gloria recently lost her 8 year old, black, female pug, Pepper to a stroke. It was completely unexpected and left a hole in Gloria's heart. Along comes foster pug, a little, black, female pug, named Patty; and Gloria was completely smitten!!

Congratulations Gloria on yet another foster failure!!

Samantha and her kids have been wanting a pug for quite some time. They have always had larger dogs, and fell in love with the pug personality and shenanigans! Congratulations Coleman Family on your new family member! Millie is totally prepared to make sure you are completely "Pugged" and understand how special having a pug family member can be.

7-31-14 Sophie has been adopted by Dotty Worthington of Salem NY.

Dotty and her husband Art recently lost their GMPR Alumni Pug, Elmer. Art is pretty much housebound and was really feeling the loss of his sweet Elmer. Dotty contacted us and said when you have a perfect pug for us, let me know. Sophie has lots of experience with senior citizens and is a Pro at giving them just what they want - Lots of Love and Cuddle Time!! We think this is a match made in heaven! Sophie is glowing in all the Diva treatment!!

We are happy that Abby and Margaret have found each other!

7-31-14 Coco has been adopted by Allison Hind, of Schenectady, NY.

Allison currently has a young pug mix and a senior pug. She was looking for a high energy pug mix to be a companion for her young dog. They don't come any higher energy or athletic than Coco. It was love at first sight for Allison, Coco, and Jupiter! Congratulations on a match made in heaven! Coco is a Jack Russell/Pug mix and seems to be about 80% Jack Russell energy and intelligence.

We do hope to see Allison and Coco at the Pug Social on 9/13. My money goes to Coco to win the Pug/Mix races!!

8-1-14 Vinnie has been adopted by Susan McIntosh of Bennington, VT.

Vinnie has been in foster care for several months and we really aren't sure why! Vinnie came to us because he is a territorial marker and does have some alpha tendencies. To know Vinnie, is to Love Vinnie! Vinnie is the most perfect cuddle pug you will ever know. When he is 100% comfortable in his surroundings and knows that he has your complete attention, he is as perfect as a pug can be. Vinnie does like to be the Activities Monitor and does not like it when things in the home are beyond his control. Vinnie prefers a Zen atmosphere! Vinnie has found his Zen with Susan and her dog pack. GMPR is so happy that Vinnie has found his Nirvana with Susan!

We look forward to seeing Susan, Vinnie and the Pack at our Pug Social!

7-25-14 Sophie has been adopted by Ronalee Hietala of Rindge, NH.

Ronalee lost her 12 year old Pug, Zachary, to congestive heart failure on 7/7/14. Her life is not complete without a pug. At 76 years young, Ronalee felt that a puppy was more than she could handle and wanted a mature pug as her constant companion. It truly was love at first sight for both Sophie and Ronalee!!

7-17-14 Buddy has been adopted by Cathy Savoy and Cindy Komisarek of North Walpole, NH.

Cathy and Cindy have adopted two other dogs from GMPR. It was love at first sight for the gals and Buddy, who has now been named Ben. Buddy/Ben will have other dogs to play with and a family that will show him the patience and kindness he needs to blossom into the special pug he was always meant to be!

Congratulations Ladies on another successful adoption!

6-28-14

Maggie has been adopted!

Maggie came to GMPR on March 31, 2014. Her original guardian had passed away and family was not able to care for her. Maggie is about 90% blind, but otherwise very healthy. She is personality plus and nothing slows her down. Unfortunately, the blind pugs and special needs pugs tend to stay available for quite some time. The nearly 3 months that she was in foster care, we had very little interest in her. During this time, Maggie's foster mom lost two of her own dogs, one to cancer and the another to a stroke. She had become so attached to Maggie, that for her birthday, her daughters gave her Maggie's adoption fee. So, Foster Failure she may be, Maggie has been adopted by Gloria Lamorey of Graniteville, VT and GMPR could not be happier.

Maggie intends to come to the GMPR Pug Social on 9/13/14 as Princess Leia from Star Wars!!

7-3-14

Percy has been adopted by Craig and Pam Petrie of Rutland, VT.

Pam and Craig have had pugs for many, many years, and are complete pug fanatics! Like most of us! They adopted their pug Quin from GMPR about a year and a half ago. Just recently, they lost their Free Style, Dancing Pug, Gilligan. They were devastated, but knew they wanted to adopt another pug in Gillie's memory.

We hope to see Percy dancing at the Pug Social, along with Quin and Millie on 9/13/14 in Killington!

Congratulations Petrie Family on another successful adoption

7-3-14

Sweet and loving Daisy Duke has been adopted by Cindy Stone and her son, Seth. Cindy's family adopted Rocky, who became Oliver, from GMPR in 2010. Oliver joined Cindy's pug Quincey. Oliver recently lost his battle with cancer and Cindy opened her heart for another pug to join her family.

When Cindy saw Daisy on GMPR's website she felt an immediate connection and a great visit with Daisy confirmed her feelings. Daisy will have all the love and caring she deserves. Thank you Cindy for giving Daisy such a fantastic fur-ever home.

6-21-14

The first day of Summer, and Digby has been adopted! A dear friend of mine and GMPR who has had pugs for many years had to let her last pug cross the bridge on 6-17-14. Coming home to an empty house was devastating and made the loss all the harder to bear. Knowing Mary Nordheim as well as we do and the excellent care she gives her pugs, we knew that Digby would be a perfect fit and help heal the pain in her heart. It was Love at First Site for them both! Congratulations Mary and Digby! We are so happy he has found his Furever Home with you! Of course one of the adoption requirements is that you bring him to the Pug Social on 9/13 so that we can see him and you of course!

6-9-14 Odie has been adopted by Sue and Rick Clothier of Queensbury, NY.

Sue and Rick recently lost their rescued pug to cancer and decided the house was not a home without a pug. They currently have 3 Mastiffs, and an English Bull Dog. They wanted an older pug, but definitely needed one that could stand his ground with the big dogs and fit into the pack. Odie was not intimidated in the slightest and joined their pack easily.

Congratulations Sue and Rick for adopting this special senior pug. We are happy for Odie and the Clothier Pack!!

5-30-14

Chewy II has been adopted by Mary Washburn of Rutland, VT. Mary has a beautiful yellow Lab named Hunter who is an absolute, big, bundle of love and energy. 4-25-14

Maya has been adopted by her Foster Mom, Nancy Zajesky, of Latham, NY. Maya was surrendered to GMPR on 5/31/13 because her family had lost their home and could no longer keep her. When Maya arrived at GMPR we found that she had very wobbly hind legs and some fecal incontinence. Maya has seen several vets and specialists. She has had every possible (expensive) test done to determine her prognosis. The Prognosis is that Maya has 9 herniated discs, spondolysis near the back of her spine, and bi-lateral luxated patellas. A couple of these things may be fixable, but certainly not all of them. Surprisingly, she is not in any pain. The Neurologist did not recommend surgery and said that ultimately she may need a wheel chair. He said she should live happy and pain free for a long time. Maya is a tough little cookie and loves to be the activities monitor in her foster home. After so many months in her foster home, Nancy decided that tough, little, Diva Maya, was where she needed to stay. Nancy truly has a heart for the broken pugs! Her home is a Senior Assisted Living Facility for pugs. Besides Maya, she currently has blind pugs, geriatric pugs, a paralyzed pug, and incontinent pugs! Bless You Nancy, for taking on another special needs pug from GMPR. You Rock the Pug World!

5-7-14

China has been adopted by Sherry Sherman of Glenville, NY. China is a cute little 13 lb pug who was rescued from a Backyard Breeder. China will receive all the love she has been waiting for and become the pug she has always been meant to be!

5-10-14

She truly has a heart for the older pugs and had just recently lost one of hers. PJ is an active, healthy, 11 year old male pug. Although the perfect pug, the seniors like PJ tend to stay in foster care for many months. Most people want to adopt the younger dogs and overlook the precious, older ones. Corinna saw PJ on our website and instantly decided he was perfect for her! We are thrilled for PJ and grateful for the folks like Corinna who appreciate the beauty that only age can bring!!

5-6-14

She has been looking for a good companion dog for Rufus, her Maltese, and Zeto is the perfect choice! Zeto is a "Jug" - Jack Russell/Pug Mix and is a playful, affectionate, active little dog. Maryanne likes to take her dogs when she travels and we are sure Zeto will enjoy his vacations and play time with Rufus

5-2-14

Baily has been adopted by Sarah McKenzie of Schenectady, NY. Sarah has loved pugs for many years and has enjoyed helping her sister when she fosters for GMPR. Now ready for a pug of her own, Sarah fell in love with Bailey when they met at her sister's house. Congratulations Bailey and Sarah!

04-25-2014 Sandy was adopted today by Marilyn & Paul Goldstein of Waterbury, VT.

The Goldsteins were looking for a playmate for their young English Bulldog. Sandy was the perfect match - they play so well together and Sandy puts Fiona in her place when she gets too rambunctious!

2-22-14 Shelby has been adopted today by the Schadlich Family of Waterville, ME.

We are so happy that Shelby has found her perfect forever home. Shelby came in with some serious medical issues. She had been hit by a car and left to heal on her own by her owners. They could not afford expensive surgery to repair her hip and just let it heal as best it could. She was able to get around on 3 legs and run like the wind, but she was in pain and needed major surgery. We got Shelby the much needed surgery, which was a major process, removing the femoral head and leaving her with no knob in her hip socket. Small dogs do quite well with this procedure and soon gain the use of their leg. Shelby is a tough little cookie and is doing fantastic!

Congratulations Schadlich Family on your adoption of this sweet little pug mix!

Thank you to the Sugai Family for fostering Shelby and seeing her through this process.
