Brutus, a 7 year old puppymill survivor was adopted on 12/28/12 by Paul Haley and Family of Albany, NY.
Brutus was in pretty rough shape and required several months in foster care before he was ready for adoption.
GMPR rescued 10 pugs from an Arkansas puppymill and they arrived in NY and VT emaciated, with serious,
yeasty skin issues, and crusty eyes. Brutus was very shy at first, but thrived in foster care. Congratulations
Paul on your adoption of this sweet pug!!

Bo was adopted on 12/28/12 by Debra Goodwin of Concord, NH. Bo was surrendered because the new Gal in
Dad's life was extremely allergic to him. Bo is such a sweetheart that his foster mom fell head over
heels in love with him. Bo became what is commonly know as a "Foster Failure" and was adopted by his

12/20/12 Pug #159 Frankie - Frankie/Wilbur has his forever loving home for Christmas. Frankie was
born on 7/30/12 to Lula who was a Missouri puppy mill rescue. Lula arrived in VT on 7/29/12 and delivered
5 puppies the next day. Frankie was the runt of the litter and weighed about half a much as the rest
of the puppies. He was so small and his head was so big, that we called him the Bobble Headed Puppy.
Small, but mighty, and incredibly cute, Frankie beat the odds and grew into a healthy, happy pup. His
Godmother, Lil, who assisted with his delivery, fell in love with him at the moment of his birth.
Frankie who is now Wilbur was adopted by Lil and Dana Bock. Frankie is now 21 weeks
old and weighs in at at whopping 9.8 lbs.!!

12/9/12 Pug #152 Pongo - Pongo was adopted by Alethea Johnston and Family of Rexford, NY. Pongo was
rescued from a shelter in Vermont. He is a "Happy-go-Lucky" kind of pug and does not let past experiences
influence the here and now. Alethea works for the Veterinary Hospital where we took Pongo for his
neuter and vetting. She and most of the staff fell in love with Pongo's easy going nature. Alethea
decided to adopt Pongo and he joins her other GMPR Alumni Pug, Brisco. Thanks Alethea for rescuing
another precious GMPR Pug!

12/23/12 Pug #125 Baxter - Baxter was adopted by Amanda Stearns of Maine. The Stearns have 2 very
energetic labs and wanted to adopt a little rescue pug that would be their lap dog. Baxter will
certainly fit that need. There is nothing he likes more than to snuggle on the sofa. Congratulations
Amanda and we are so happy Baxter found his perfect forever home just in time for Christmas.

pug named Jafar, and 8 month old Puggy will be a perfect companion and playmate for him. Puggy was

rescued from a shelter and was flea infested and in need of lots of TLC. Paris is such a sweetheart
that her foster family fell in love with her. After a major dental and treatment for her skin problems,

12/4/12 pug #146 Moose - Moose was adopted by Matthew Malin and Andrew Goetz of Kinderhook and NYC, NY. Moose was surrendered
to GMPR because his owner worked long hours and couldn't give him the attention he needed. Andrew and
Matthew own their own business and Moose will be able to go to work with them, which is perfect for him.
Andrew and Matthew lost their beloved dogs Bob and Jr. both at the age of 15 years and they were looking
for a new dog to share their life. Moose will have all the attention and love he deserves. Thank you for

11/26/12 pug #113 Dot - Our special little Dot has been adopted by Jodi Hager and Dave McMullen of
Wentworth, NH. While fostering Dot, Jodi and Dave fell in love with her. Dot was rescued from
an Arkansas puppy mill and Arrived in Vermont on 8/31/12. Skinny, scabby, blind, with a sore
mouth and hind end, Dot was in the worst shape possible. Jodi and Dave worked hard to rehabilitate
Dot and she thrived under their TLC. Unfortunately after suffering for years in a puppy mill with
dry eyes and ammonia scalding, Dot's eyes were causing her severe pain and needed to be removed.
Dot came through surgery like a champ and true to her stoic nature bounced back with minimal issues.
Dot is adorable and truly a lucky girl to have found Jodi and Dave! Look for Dot at future GMPR events
as she helps promote puppy mill awareness and the reasons for shutting them all down!!

11/24/12 pug #148 Daniel - Daniel the first born of Lula's puppies, is the last to be adopted. Daniel is a 17 week old puppy.
He was born 7/30/12, the day after his Mom, Lula, arrived in VT. Daniel is the most laid back and
mellow of Lula's boys; also the sweetest. Daniel was adopted 11/24/12 by the Strek Family of Underhill,
VT. The Streks have a 25 month old pug, named Jasper, who is in need of a companion to play with.
Daniel is a perfect fit and anxious to wear out Jasper! Congratulations Strek Famiily on your adoption

11/21/12 pug #153 Iggy - Iggy is a 16 week old puppy who is a rescue pug in the true sense of the
word. Iggy's Mom, Lula, was rescued from a puppymill 3 days before her puppies were born. Iggy
was adopted by Jennifer Sargent of Orford, NH. Iggy could have been very easily born
in a puppy mill and sent on to a pet shop when he was 5 weeks old. Instead, his mother was rescued
and he was born in VT. Raised in a home with lots of love and socialization, he was given a great
start in life. Iggy is a happy healthy puppy who has known nothing but kindness and love from humans.

11/9/12 pug #135 Lula - Lula was adopted by Corinne Fortune and Family of Hanover, NH. Lula is a very special GMPR
pug. She was rescued by Lil Bock and Karen Powers on a mad dash to Missouri to save 10 puppy mill pugs.
Lula was very pregnant and ready to deliver the day she was picked up. It was a wild and tense ride all
the way to Vermont, but Lula held off giving birth until she arrived. She gave birth the next morning
and had 5 healthy baby boys! She is just 18 months old and this was her first (and only) litter.
After a tentative start, she became a perfect little mother! Congratulations Lula and the Fortune
Family! You might say this is Lula's Good Fortune!!!

11/3/12 pug #139 Jack - Jack was adopted by Lisa LaClaire of Colorado Springs, CO. Jack who has been
renamed Mendon, won Lisa's heart at our Pug Social on 9/22/12. Lisa is a good friend and long time
supporter of GMPR. She has adopted two previous pugs, from us, the infamous Big John and the grumpy
Bella. Lisa lost Big John in July and her pug Jack in September. She was in need of another smooshy
boy pug to love. Having just lost her very special pug Jack, Lisa decided that her new pug coming from
Vermont should have a name that signified Vermont. During the Pug Social, she stayed with Phil and
Judy Douglas of Mendon, VT, so the name Mendon was given to Jack. Congratulations Lisa on your 3rd

divorce settlement and was really missing her. Tess is a unique little gal with loads of personality.

10/31/12 pug #132 John - a 4 month old pug pup, has been adopted by Julie Gibson and Family of Bristol, VT. John was
rescued from a puppymill in Missouri. An energetic little guy, John jumped off the deck at his foster
home and broke his elbow. Julie works at the Hinesburg Animal Hospital where John had his elbow surgery
done by Dr. Kurt Kenny. Julie had just recently lost her pug, Dexter to cancer and was grieving his loss.
After a few hours of caring for John at the hospital, Julie had fallen in love! She will be able to help him
through the rehab process and give him all the love he can handle. Thank you to Dr. Kenny and Julie for
covering John's surgical expenses and for taking such great care of him! This was a "win win" situation for
Julie, John, and GMPR.

serious heart condition that cannot be cured. With medication and TLC she will probably have a couple more

house for about 7 days before Animal Control stepped in. He will never want anything again as he is now

When he arrived in VT, he was found to be Heartworm positive. He underwent treatment for the Heartworms

7/23/12 pug #74 Stewie -an owner surrender pug. A wonderful lady rescued him - took him in knowing
she could not keep him but also knowing he needed urgent care. Emaciated, full of worms and fleas etc.
He went into gmpr care and got the best care from local vet and flourished. He was vetted and just needs
to put on a few lbs. Kate Paine of Stowe and her family fell in love with him and needed him in their
lives. He lives like a king there in Stowe Vermont with Kate, Ben and Sam

Duke/Hermit pug #43 was adopted Friday, 6/22/12 by Cortni and Tim Cleveland of Hardwick, VT.
Duke came up to GMPR from a shelter in Illinois. He had been dropped at the shelter by his family
who no longer wanted him. Duke's original name was Hermit and when he arrived in VT, we knew why.
Duke was a hermaphrodite which meant that he had parts of both male and female sex organs.
He was mostly male, so his foster mom felt that Duke was a more appropriate name.
Duke was spayed and neutered in a rather complicated procedure. He is now 99.9% male.
Duke is a sweetheart and is 100% Pug! Thank You Cleveland Family for adopting this very special pug!!

Gretchen Pug #67 was adopted by Valerie Ainsworth of West Chazy, NY on 6/22/12. Gretchen was adopted
from GMPR in October of 2009. Her owner passed away, so Gretchen came back to GMPR. Gretchen originally
was rescued from a puppy mill. She had broken her front leg and it was never repaired. The leg healed and
is a bit deformed, but it does not slow her down a bit. We had the leg examined by a surgeon, and no
treatment was indicated. Gretchen joins Valerie's other GMPR Alumni pugs, Sophie and Dooley.

Ali pug 42/2011 - was adopted on, 6/16/12, by Lisa Alesci of Southbridge, MA. Ali is a 14-15 year
old senior pug who has been in foster care for almost 2 years. GMPR has been committed to finding
him a perfect forever home, even if it meant that he would be in our hospice program until it was time
for him to cross the bridge. Ali is a pug with lots of spunk and personality. He acts like a pug much
younger than his years and has a lot of love to give. We very much appreciate Lisa taking this senior
pug into her home and providing him with the best life and love any pug could ask for. A senior pug
gives much more than he asks for!

Anton was adopted 6/2/12 by Angela Griggs and Fred Hoadley of Eden, VT on 6-12/12. Anton is a 7 year
old pug who was surrendered to GMPR because his owner was unable to care for him. Fred adopted a pug
named Frank from GMPR in 2009. Frank recently passed away and Fred was extremely lonely and needed another
pug companion. Although Anton will never replace Frank, he will help fill the hole in Fred's heart!
Fred and Anton are bonding and honoring predecessor pug, Frank!!

Cosette, pug # 64 was adopted by Carol Barboza of Bolton Landing, NY on 6/2/12. Cosette is a beautiful
2 year old pug who was surrendered in love, because her family had fallen on hard times. Carol had lost
one of her pugs in February and was in need of a pug to fill the hole in her heart. She currently has a
black, 2 year old female pug, named Sassy, who was lonely and needed a friend to play with. Cosette
who has been renamed Bree, and Sassy are perfect together!!

is a 5 year old pug who was rescued from a shelter in So. Carolina. He had been dumped there by a
backyard breeder. Chucky is a confident pug, who desires nothing other than to be King of his home!
The Williams Family had lost their pug, Wally, to a tragic accident in October 2011. After working
through the grief process, they decided that now was the time to add another pug to their home.
Chucky will have all the love and one on one attention he desires!

Oscar, pug #24, was adopted 5/12/12 by the Manganais Family of Raymond, NH. Oscar was surrendered to
GMPR on 2/21/12 because his family was moving out of state and could not take him along. Amy Manganais
who has been fostering Oscar, realized very quickly that Oscar was a keeper! Oscar has gone through several
major health issues, mast cell cancer being the worst of them. During his recuperation period, the entire
Manganais Family decided that Oscar would be staying with them permanently. So it goes when you foster pugs!!
